Annual Grey-Crowned Babbler Survey 2023
Mick Moylan has completed another year of the Grey-Crowned Babbler Survey, the first survey being completed in 2001. It is completed over about a week and a half, this year occurring in late March/early April.
Overall, the population seems stable, with a total of 120 birds observed this year. This is close to the highest number of species observed in a year, and a great increase from the 35 in 2006. With some family groups increasing greatly and others disappearing, the assumption is that there has been some agglomeration of groups in the last year.
Mick’s dedication has been a real boon to the Project and Grey-Crowned Babbler conservation and are greatly appreciate for his efforts and expertise.
